From More House School to author: Douglas's next chapter
Tuesday, 16 September 2025

"Hello, my name is Douglas Willson, I was a student at More House School for nearly seven years, from September 2015 to February 2022.

I am currently in the process of writing a book called "Cancer: From an Autistic Person's Perspective'. On 20th February 2022, ten days after my departure from More House, my mum very sadly passed away after a battle with cancer, two weeks shy of her 60th birthday. As you can imagine, it was very tough, my mum and I were extremely close. My mum's passing has driven me to fundraise for cancer numerous times, I participated in Race4Life in July 2022, five months after her death, and have gone on to do charity fundraising walks too.

I came up with the idea of writing a book shortly after my mum passed away, my aim with this book is to raise awareness for cancer and to help people with autism like me (and other disabilities too) who have lost loved ones to cancer or have loved ones battling cancer.

At the moment, I am in the process of finding an illustrator for my book and am looking to hopefully release it in 2026."
